This service has been developed to allow the monitoring of web traffic visiting your eBay auction items, eBay shops, Yahoo auction items, MySpace, HTML Emails and web 2.0 based content using Google Analytics.

How this service works with yahoo and eBay auction items

The service works by using your Google analytics UA code. When you create new links a unique HTML tag is generated, by adding this 1px by 1px transparent image to your content the visitor imformation can then be directed to your Google analytics account. Below is a selection of the information that can is gather using Google analytics combined with this service:

MySpace, HTML Email and social networking sites

Link valuable visitor data to content to find out what people are looking for when visiting your MySpace pages or viewing your marketing emails. This service will work with any web 2.0 provider that allows you to add one of the following to your page. Remote hosted backgrounds, images or html. We are currently developing apps for Facebook and Bebo social networking sites. Check back here for more news, or when you have signed up select to receive announcement emails.

Below is an example image tag that is used by e.g.Analytics. This one is the basic none referrer type.
The tag shown above is usually used in content that does not allow javascript. For eBay shops you can add a slightly different image tag that is designed to receive infomation about where the traffic originated, such as name of site/search engine and keywords used in any search criteria as well as giving you the normal image tag only data like the average view time and unique visitors. It is important to note that we do not store any visitor data and this service is setup to allow the traffic data to be received by Google.
 
Limitations
Currently the screen resolution and colour depth of the visitors desktop is not sent. This is due to the reliance on javascript. The only time this service uses javascript is for the referrer information and page title both work within ebay content.
